Last week we went with a group of friends to the taping of Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, and posed for a picture after the show. With a radio personality. Yes.
Have I mentioned my Corgi? Here he is playing with his stuffed bear, named Bono for reasons no one can remember.
Carl Kasell was on vacation, but the Wait Wait souvenir stand had Carl pillows. Of course I wanted one.
We had a belated birthday dinner with DJ’s family. I baked a cake. It was hideous. Everyone was sort of patting me and telling me it was just fine, that it still tasted good. It did. But it looked like a first grade art project.
It takes a lot of makeup brushes to make me look this… um. Powdery?
DJ’s xBox controller was out, although I didn’t notice him playing that day. He’s very considerate about video games. He mostly plays when I am absorbed in other things or sleeping. Which I suppose would also be the time available for an affair, so I really don’t mind seeing the gear out and about.
On Wednesday evening it was fourteen degrees Fahrenheit and I could not get warm. I settled in to my nest with wool slippers, chamomile tea, and a book while DJ fought dragons at the condo board meeting.

I am very jealous of your trip to “Wait, Wait.” AJ wants me to take him. He and I both love that show. Mr. Spy, however, is disdainful.
I think AJ would love it. Why is Mr. Spy disdainful?
He finds it irritating and self-congratulatory. I tell him he doesn’t have to listen.
I’m not sure I would want to roll over at night and see the disembodied head of Carl Kasell staring back at me. Or the “bodied” head of C. K., for that matter. I do love that show, though.
That’s why we keep Carl in the living room, Lass. With the mannequins.
DJ has been saying we should offer some kind of prize to any guests who recognize Carl. I think that prize would need to be non-perishable.
Envious of your trip to the taping of “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me.” We love that show! Sad that Carl Kassell was not there, but at least you can stare at him every day now, if you want.
a tasty cake always beats a pretty one!
nice use of the spring boden catalog as a coaster…i have the exact same thing happening at my house
