a bowl of peanut butter and a spoon
Last week I signed up to run the Soldier Field 10 Mile. Ten miles is further than I’ve ever run. But I got hooked by the finish line, right on the 50-yard line of the stadium and broadcast on the jumbotrons. So DJ and my mom can watch me stumble to the finish in high detail. I put out a Facebook request for someone to pull me in a wagon, but so far no takers.
So I’ve been running. Spending $60 on a tee shirt and a bagel has a motivating effect. Saturday I did seven miles on a treadmill and felt pretty good about it. Sunday I was STARVING. My favorite Sunday snack was a cup of nonfat Greek yogurt with a splort of agave syrup and two tablespoons of powdered peanut butter. Powdered peanut butter is a great great idea – all the protein, practically no fat at all. It makes a bowl of yogurt taste like a bowl of peanut butter. I’ve always wanted a guilt-free bowl of peanut butter, haven’t you? If you think that’s wrong, we just can’t be friends.
I know at least a couple of you like to run, do you have any favorite snacks to recommend?

I love plain non-fat yogurt, (and it sounds like I have to try this powdered peanut butter!) berries, and honey.
I’m also a fan of bananas and oranges, blueberry toast with butter, and smoothies.
Good for you for doing 10 miles, wow! I can barely run a mile and a half without quitting, but I just signed up for a 5k so I gotta start pushing myself!
I have never heard of powdered peanut butter! I’m intrigued
I’m both intrigued and repulsed by the idea of powdered peanut butter. Hmm.
Powdered Peanut Butter sounds like something I must try.
I am a BIG fan of making oatmeal with a spoonful of peanut butter in it. I can see the powdered stuff as a nice addition to it instead of the full fat variety… WOW!
A whole wheat bagel with peanut butter is my favorite fuel food before a morning run. As for powdered peanut butter … I may have to try it.
so excited you’re running the sf10…i’ll be there too! it’s my favorite race in chicago.
as for snacks, my favorite (usually for dessert, quite often in bed!) is oatmeal with a handful of ghiradelli dark chocolate chips mixed in. almost like a warm chocolate chip cookie w/o all the butter and brown sugar. i’ve been eating this forever, but recently saw it as a suggested snack in runner’s world so i feel validated
