An Extraordinary Saturday: Setting Up the Barn
While the girls and I were having our hair done, the barn was a frenzy of activity. You know how they say that something always goes wrong? Well, something went wrong. All 89 chair covers, plus table runners and the head table cloth, were left behind. No one wanted to tell me, not after four months of sewing. So DJ’s dad got back in the car and drove forty minutes each way to retrieve them. When DJ did tell me, I thought it was hysterical.

I am so grateful for our friends and family. Mostly DJ’s family.

Setting everything up was a big job.

Elizabeth and DJ’s mom captained the effort, and when everyone else left to get dressed Elizabeth was still placing candles and straightening centerpieces.

Even DJ’s grandpa helped place favors on the tables. Outside, DJ’s dad was fighting the battle of his life with our ceremony backdrop. The rain had stopped, which was good! But it was still overcast and very windy. The flowers kept moving to one end of the monofilament. DJ’s dad would patiently move them back to center, only to repeat the process a few minutes later.

But they sure did look nice, says the spoiled bride.
Next: put the dress on, already.

Can I just tell you how much we wanted to rearrange the flowers to spell something. Thank goodness our better instincts took over and we didn’t.
How awesome that everyone chipped in! Tell DJ’s Dad that he did a FANTASTIC job on the flower backdrop for your ceremony! They look perfectly spaced in the pictures.
